ABOUT

Sean Whytock is a composer, orchestrator, arranger and pianist from Carlisle, Cumbria, UK. 

 

Having studied a Bachelors degree in Classical Music (Composition) at Leeds College of Music (Conservatoire), Sean has since then continued to work as a freelance composer for films and media; frequently collaborating with independent filmmakers and production companies such as Eden Films Cumbria and NADT / Wright Walker Productions. Since investing in high quality sound-sample software, along with various MIDI equipment and technology. Sean is able to create highly realistic and professional sounding scores in his own personal music studio.

 

Most recently, Sean was awarded a scholarship to attend the Chigiana Film Scoring Intensive Program 2023 in Siena, Italy. The summer program included recording sessions held in Rome (Stone Recording Studio) and Florence (Teatro Verdi) with musicians from the Orchestra di Roma and Orchestra della Toscana. Classes were taught at the esteemed Accademia Chigiana by expert tutors in their field from USC (University of Southern California) and Berklee College of Music, including Patrick Kirst, Lawrence Shragge, Tim Huling and Alessio Miraglia. Recording sessions were ran by professional mixers and engineers such as Tim Starnes, Marco Streccioni and Gabriele Conti. 

 

Sean is also a classically trained pianist, regularly performing piano repertoire across the UK. He has studied under piano tutors such as Carlisle based Heather Perrin and senior ABRSM examiner Michael Hancock, as well as David Murray (Head of Keyboard Studies at Newcastle University).​ Sean also enjoys arranging and performing pop, jazz, film, vintage and contemporary songs for piano and is available for hire to play at various events, functions, weddings, social clubs and restaurants.
